Baked potatoes are great and all, but let's be real, we're here for toppings, not the potato - right? This 'Everything But The Potato' dip is exactly what it sounds like: A bowl full of the best loaded baked potato toppings, and it is so good it HURTS. Now that's what I call a 'Super Bowl'!

TL;DR

If you love a good ol’ loaded baked potato, this one is for you my friends: An easy, crowd-pleasing dip that’s just a big ol’ bowl full of the best loaded baked potato toppings. Pair this with a dry, crisp, light-to-medium bodied white wine, like a cool-climate Pinot Blanc. Alternatives: Go for a dry Pinot Gris, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Chablis, or Albariño for a similar wine pairing, or a sparkling wine (like Sekt or Prosecco), dry rosé, or Zweigelt if you’re more into reds!

Wine Pairing

I recommend pairing this bowl of deliciousness with a cool-climate, dry, crisp, Pinot Blanc, like one from Austria, Germany, Northern France (Alsace), or Canada. The wine's vibrant sweet apple and pear flavours brighten the savoury layers of the dip and compliment the sweet caramelized onions while its clean, crisp acidity cuts through the richness of the dip and keeps you coming back for more. The wine is also light enough that it works with the dip rather than overpowering it, and vice versa!

My Recommendation

I recommend the INSANELY awesome Prieler Pinot Blanc from Austria - a silky smooth, crisp, mineral-driven white wine with intensely beautiful flavours of sweet apple, ripe pear, and lemon zest. The wine's vibrant fruit flavours brighten the savoury layers of the dip and complement the sweet caramelized onions, while its clean, crisp acidity cuts through the richness of the dip and keeps you coming back for more!

Pairing Alternatives

If you’re looking for another wine that’s going to give you a similar pairing experience, try a Pinot Gris, Chablis, Albarino, Chenin Blanc, Gruner Veltliner, or an off-dry Riesling.

If you’re looking for a different style of wine pairing, try a sparkling wine, dry rosé, Zweigelt (red) or Lambrusco (sparkling red).

If wine isn’t your thing,

you could also pair it with an Austrian Märzen, Pilsner, Witbier, Gin & Tonic, Whiskey Sour, sparkling lemon water, or cucumber mint mocktail.
