3 Courses of Wine & Apps for the Girls!
International Women's Day Special: *NOT* Burrata, Tuna Poke Tacos, and Gorgonzola Apple Prosciutto Flatbread paired with 3 INSANELY awesome women-made wines.
It’s International Women’s Day today, and what better way to celebrate than with wine & apps?! Whether it’s to celebrate with your gals or spoil the special women in your life, you really can’t go wrong with 3 courses of drool-worthy appetizers paired with 3 stunning women-made wines!

I’ll be posting videos of all three appetizers on Instagram (and sharing the recipes on here) over the next couple of weeks, but if you’re a paid subscriber you can access the recipe for my NOT Burrata with Hot Honey Raspberries right now!
First Course: NOT Burrata with Hot Honey Raspberries
Wine Pairing: Jansz Tasmania Premium Sparkling Rosé (made by Teresa Heuzenroeder)
NOT Burrata?
Yup. This looks and tastes like Burrata, but it’s not! It’s actually just fresh mozzarella topped with an easy homemade Stracciatella - AKA the creamy deliciousness inside Burrata that makes it so dang delicious. Of course you can also just use Burrata, but even living in a big city like Calgary, I’ve noticed it’s not always easy to find, and it can be pricey! This Burrata dupe is an awesome alternative that’s easier to come by, more affordable, and delicious. win win win.
The Pairing
I always start my wine tastings or dinner parties with bubbles. They’re the perfect crisp and refreshing apéritif to get you excited for your meal, and nothing says ‘it’s party time’ like popping a bottle of bubbly!
The Jansz Tasmania Premium Sparkling Rosé was fantastic, and paired perfectly with this *not* Burrata. The matching flavours of raspberry and citrus were ON POINT and the contrast between the creamy cheese and crisp bubbles made it hard to stop eating! Seriously - I could have devoured the whole thing.

Second Course: Tuna Sashimi Tacos with Fried Corn Tortillas
Wine Pairing: Santiago Ruiz Albariño (made by Luisa Freire)
You absolutely need to try this pairing. The girls were just raving about the tuna tacos, and it’s like the wine was MADE for them. I’m sharing the recipe and more details on the wine and pairing next week, so stay tuned!

Third Course: Gorgonzola, Apple, & Prosciutto Flatbread
Wine Pairing: Mary Taylor AnnaMaria Salad Sicilia Rosso (made by: Annamaria and Clara Sala)
This final course was just perfect. The flatbread had the perfect combination of sweet from the apples, salty from the cheese and prosciutto, and bitter from the arugula microgreens, and it paired so perfectly with this amazing Sicilian Nero D’Avola!
I love love love Mary Taylor Wines. Seriously - every single one I’ve tried has blown me away. Not only in taste and quality, but with how affordable they are! Mary Taylor is a label that works with small European producers, with a goal to bring wines with European quality (and pricing) to the North American market.
Every Mary Taylor Wine is a genuine “wine of place,” sourced from some of Europe’s most classic regions and, best of all, priced according to the “Old World” view of wine as an accessible everyday luxury. - Mary Taylor

The Mary Taylor Sicilia Rosso (Nero D’Avola from Sicily) was far from what I was expecting, and it absolutely blew me away. When I hear Nero D’Avola I think bold and rich fruit bombs, but this one is crisp and vibrant with beautifully fresh fruit flavours. I’ve heard it described as elegant, and I couldn’t agree more. I served this wine lightly chilled and it was just fantastic paired with the gorgonzola flatbread! Stay tuned for this recipe and more details on the wine in the next couple of weeks!
I hope you have an AMAZING international women’s day full of wine, delicious food, and all the love! And as always, thank you for being here. Your support means the world to me!
