Welcome to my new series: ‘Spritz, Please!’ where I’m sharing 6 stunning spritz recipes, each paired with the perfect, easy summer appetizer.
I had so much fun filming this series. I took it in a bit of a new direction, and I’m excited to hear what you think! A spritz and a snack will forever remind me of sitting at a tiny bistro table in Italy, people-watching and soaking in the sun. My goal was to bring those vibes into this series, so I turned my deck into my dream bistro!
The Pairing
I absolutely love this one. Berries are POPPIN’ right now, and both the spritz and the snack highlight everything they have to offer! If you’ve had a Lambrusco spritz before, I guarantee you’ve never had one like this. And the dip? It gives cheesecake vibes, but in a sweet, salty, and spicy kinda way. So good.
What is Lambrusco?
If you’re new to Lambrusco, I highly recommend you have a glass on it’s own first!! This stuff is fantastic. And if your immediate thought is that Lambrusco is that really sweet cheap stuff from the 80’s, it’s time we set the record straight: Yes, there was a time when it was mass-produced, super sweet, and... not great. But the Lambrusco of today? Totally different story.
Lambrusco a sparkling red wine from Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy, made from a whole family of grapes that all go by the name Lambrusco. The big three to know:
Lambrusco di Sorbara – light, floral, and high-acidity
Lambrusco Grasparossa – dark, rich, and a little grippy
Lambrusco Salamino – a nice middle ground between the two
You’ll find styles from dry (secco) to slightly sweet (amabile), and sparkling levels that range from lightly fizzy (frizzante) to full on sparkling (spumante). It’s fresh, juicy, and awesome with salty snacks, rich dips, and anything cheesy or cured! Dry Lambrusco is hands down my favourite wine to pair with charcuterie and pizza (speaking of, you should check out my Pepperoni Pizza Dip and 7-Layer Charcuterie Dip!)
I used the Paltrinieri Solco Lambrusco for this spritz - made from Lambrusco Salamino, it’s dry and crisp with beautiful frothy bubbles and flavours of juicy dark fruit (think black cherries, blackberries), violets, balsamic, and a touch of funk that keeps things interesting. I love how this one bring in some earthy, savoury notes, which help balance the spritz and keep it from being tooooo fruity.
If you can’t find this one, here are some alternatives!
Tomato Wheels Lambrusco - love love love this one. Forever and always my favourite.
Lini 910 Lambrusco - Super juicy and fruity!

Now that is an inspired wine cocktail, I think I'll try one myself. Love the ice cubes with berries frozen inside
